I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist based in central Halifax. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and observe its ethical code of conduct.
I work with adults (18+) either short-term or long-term depending on your needs and preference.
I am an integrative therapist which means I draw on different ways of understanding what it is to be human and what can cause the challenges in life we sometimes face. It also means that I will collaborate with you to find a way of working that is helpful for you and your individual needs and circumstances.
I work relationally, believing that it is the relationships we have with ourselves, with others and with the world around us, that shape us and bring us joy and can equally be a source of unhappiness and discontent. It is my hope that by encouraging relational awareness you can find more ease and satisfaction in the way you relate to yourself and others.
My core approach is humanistic, meaning I believe that we are all unique human beings with unique stories and that we all have an inner wisdom and capacity for healing that can sometimes become a little stuck. I passionately believe that talking therapy can change lives and that from within the safety and authenticity of a therapeutic relationship, we can start to make sense of things and our potential to heal, grow and thrive can be rediscovered.
It is my aim to be a compassionate companion, working alongside you at your pace, helping you make sense of the challenges that you are experiencing. My approach is non-directive, meaning I won’t give you advice or tell you what to do but will support you as we explore the choices you have, helping you to find your own inner strengths and make your own decisions so you can move forward in a direction that is right for you; towards a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
